Greeting
I am starting a new blog because I need that place to write about something when there isn't enough space on threads. I also want to keep people up to date on the blind refresher program I'll be attending in February or sooner.
I hadn't used some of my blind skills over time and it is true, if you don't use them, you will lose them. Stuff like orientation and mobility, I never have had jaws training, the big screen reader when I last had a job was Window-Eyes.
So stuff like that, maybe some braille, I'm open to ideas and opinions.
I plan after that training program to look at getting my CATS certification at WEB in Arkansas. Its about an 18 month program that is intense in what is covered but I want that level of knowledge. I want to teach assistive technology and that looks like the best way to go that doesn't require a bachelors degree.
Up coming this month there is the local Accessibility Meet-up that I will be attending. I went to my first meeting last month and it was wonderful.
Save the Date: November 18ht -- Durham-Raleigh A11y: The Accessibility Meetup-Triangle Style November Meeting
Hello,
Save the date for our November meeting on Tuesday November 18ht from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Location: Durham Food Hall
530 Foster St, Durham NC 27701
Just take the stairs upstairs and we will be at one of the large tables, just call out my name, Steve or ask people if they are there for the Accessibility Meet-up.
If you are needing a more accessible way upstairs, call me and I will go outside where there is a door into that upstairs area.
